Transmitter/Receiver is the void, the collusion of time and space, and the potential landing place after travelling through a black hole/white hole, past the dying star and back. The sustainability of Transmitter/Receiver relies on a sustained act of reliant belief by the artist and the audience. There must be an abandonment of typical logic and an embrace of the what if, for the work falls apart otherwise and the generation of potential energies cease.

Rachel Lai is a Sydney-based artist from Hong Kong. Working across sound, sculpture, video and photo, Rachel’s works are often concerned with the pataphysical ‘what if.’ Their practice sits within the realm of the poetics and creating imaginary solutions to self-imposed problems exploring space/time travelling through dying stars.
