Playing House is a acrylic on wood four painting series of mundane of objects that we are well accustomed to through our frequent, often daily interaction with, such as household items, which are turned bizarre when removed from their original context or purpose. Everyday items appear to have been misplaced from its conventional and expected context or much like the workings of a dream, where a seemingly small missed detail, a misremembered memory, or an imagery the mind comes up with when left to run in its confusion, creates a disconnect in reality which makes a situation truly appear odd when finally noticed.

Joanne uncovers the uncanny in traditionally mundane objects through paintings where reality and unreality is blurred, taking interest in dream-like circumstances where nothing would look particularly out of the ordinary unless a closer look is taken.
