"Mirrorball" explores themes of self-representation and emotional expression through digital media. While each artwork is based on the same foundational self-portrait, every piece has its own unique composition, where the original image is fragmented, distorted, stretched, and rotated in unconventional ways. This approach emphasizes the idea of the self as multifaceted, with varying emotions, flaws, and conflicting identities.

The hand-drawn shapes, created with deliberate repetition, evoke a sense of intimacy and imperfection, highlighting the personal nature of self-expression. The monochromatic color palette enhances the emotional tone of each portrait, symbolizing the spectrum of the human experience. By assigning a distinct shade to each artwork, the focus shifts from intricate details to the interplay of features and shapes, drawing attention to the way these elements come together in harmonious repetition.

While the full face is never revealed, the viewer is offered glimpses of it, suggesting both incompleteness and the complexity of identity. Through this process of deconstruction and abstraction, "Mirrorball" invites contemplation on the fluid, fragmented nature of selfhood and the evolving nature of self-portraiture.

Experienced in screen printing and digital art, Helena Saibun uses a variety of vibrant colours within her artworks. Through the act of repetition, she plays around with the use of shapes and sizes. Creating artworks with a lack of details further invites an exploration into the use of shapes, colours and composition. Through this, the works questions the themes that are presented, inviting the audience to create their own meaning.
