The work “Hidden Cat” is a combination of screen arts and printing, weaving a story of a solitary journey of a cat.
As the viewers stands before the artwork suspended on the wall, the projector performs a 2D animation which reveals a cat venturing into an unknown world. Simultaneously, the projector also acts as flashlight in the dark, transforming the printing into a living manga, its narrative presented through illuminated panels.
The storyboard unfolds in this interweaving of light and shade, as the cat protagonist embarks on a solitary journey. From the initial curiosity that sparkles in its eyes to the solitary moments of darkness in the alley, the cat’s becomes a metaphorical reflection of myself venture into the foreign landscapes of Australia. Within the strokes of the digital brush, the Eastern world mirroring the familiarity of home. The cat ventures beyond the comforting walls into the strange,kaleidoscopic and charming world outside. The initial enchantment turns into a nuanced exploration, navigating the complexities of culture shock and the yearning for home.
The climax of the narrative unfolds as the cat, guided by an invisible thread of introspection, retraces its steps back home. The reunion with family, painted with hues of warmth and familiarity, echoes the artist’s own journey of self-discovery and reconnection.
