Shocked by the Xuzhou chained woman incident, my work focused on the woman trafficking cases that happened in China. In my work, glass figurines are randomly placed on a red fabric covered staircase, and red chains made of iron wire and red wool are tightly attached to the glass figurines. I refer to the most common ring tossing game in Chinese night markets as a substitution for women trafficking.These horrific cases continue to occur even though the crimes are being cracked down on. As a former child, a woman of the past, present and future, my pain, worries and fears are expressed in the form of vulnerable glass, as if I were experiencing them.
