Danielle’s work Shells focuses on tapping into the anxieties and discomforts that come from pressures in uncontrollable situations, more specifically in gallery settings. This work encourages the audience to navigate through each sculpture, conscious of every movement they make, in fear that one may fall or knock at any given point in time. Shells delves into the feelings of reservation when it comes to engaging with fragile or close proximity works, pushing the boundaries of the audience into stepping out of their comfort zone. Whilst engaging with the work, ‘Shells’ becomes a reflection of an individual’s mind, body and soul as they explore, interact, and react to the work, a metaphor for the ways in which we approach life and the decisions we choose to make.
