My lover in Athens (The Old Lighting of The Acropolis of Athens, The New Lighting of the Taylor Square Underground Men’s Conveniences)
Two sites of monument find themselves entangled - as a space for love and respect. I found myself always being guided by each of them, yet remembering the other - they reminded me of each other physically, culturally, romantically. As a dedication to both (The Acropolis of Athens and Taylors Square Underground Men’s Conveniences), and in a way to myself, I materialised my speculations of each site: through a similar Lighting, copying styles of found video, and collecting personal and academic research.
In collating this information I present it as a catalyst for the creation of historical monumentality and use it against/for you (for them). In an exploration of cultural importance, of shadowing one over the other, instead I choose reflections of culture; finding the similarities, finding pieces of myself everywhere, connecting these versions of self, and forming new cycles of history, new love, new monument. Touching the grooves, bathing in warm light, showing care, and softness, showing that I loved them both, in a way so that I showed myself that both could be loved.

Some people also wanted a night time celebration…At 10pm that night, people began to assemble at Taylor Square
