‘Sucking and Fucking’ is a work that aims to make people consider sex as it is perceived in the modern world of today, by highlighting the juxtaposing views, which are still held around sex. On one end of the spectrum there is the forward thinking, openminded approach to sex which brings the topic to the forefront of our conversations and on the other end lies the opinion that sex is taboo and something to be ashamed of. By creating a piece of wearable jewellery using traditional techniques and materials, as well as an immersive atmosphere created through focusing on the form, which depicts a very modern, unorthodox and exaggerated scene of sex, I hope to open a conversation between the viewers and wearer/s and start to bridge the gap between these contrasting perspectives.
