About
Born and raised in Hong Kong, where the culture is still a place where discussing emotions is unreceptive, I realize that emotions are mistaken for being bad and shameful. For example, expressing sadness is considered fragile; expressing fear is considered weak; expressing anger is considered emotional… This culture restricts people from showing their true emotions.
To change the erroneous concept, I created the work “Be”. “Be” is a series of face jewelry representing three emotions that are deemed to be negative - sadness, fear, and anger. Through these jewelry pieces, I would like to encourage wearers to embrace their emotions, as all of their emotions are as precious and beautiful as jewelry.
