Ida Combley
Bio
Ida Combley’s frenetic and provocative artworks should come with a warning sign. Drawing upon the idea of ‘the personal is political’ Combley bares her own experiences onto the canvas, discussing toxicity within hetronormative relationships. Teetering between the sweet and sinister Combley reworks cultural iconography, creating a visual narrative. Within a splash of paint fundamental themes of love, sexuality, misogyny, and trauma are explored. Combley’s body of work are ripe with effulgent colours. But within the pop of her work lies a dark underbelly of social commentary, rending the paintings unavoidable.
