Lara-Marie Wilkinson
About
This work is an expression of pain, my pain. It is a work in which I am absent, but once was present.
Pain travels through time, and place. It stretches reality, distorts it, makes it impossible to grasp. Pain is infinite and yielding, it is bodily and psychic, it persists and is remembered with fear, or with the desire for pleasure and absolution.
Persistent pain has entered me, and it leaves a trail of its distortions and destructions everywhere I go. My pain is experienced by others at a remove, but kinship can be found in my painful discards. Through time, through place, a connection is experienced, between my pain and the pain of others. All at once their pain is contained in me, and mine in them.
Communion is harvested from pain.
