About
My final work, Translucence, is a manifestation of something we think of as pure, very fragile, and can only exist temporarily in its gradual state, yet it can showcase a small moment of translucent beauty through a single source of light, in which the thing that comes to my mind is the bubble, which will be the primary subject of this masterpiece. The symbolism of the bubble, through my experience, conveys some kind of innocent yet pure mind like a child’s, or like a memory from our childhood that wasn’t permanent yet it was beautiful.
The memory of seeing the bubble float into the clear sky, shining with rainbow colours is the happiest scene that must be cherished with care. If the moment between when the bubble was floating and the bubble popping when it touched the ground seemed like forever, perhaps then through this work, a story of vibrancy, and distortion would manipulate the bubble’s tranquillity, sewing order into chaos. It serves for me and the audience as a reminder that even something as brittle and dull as a bubble must be handled carefully, that it takes time to examine and understand the beauty of simple things.
