Suspended is an animation about life on hold, inspired by recent events. It is composed from original digital artwork and a bricolage of still and moving images sourced on the internet.
Bio
Sydney-based artist Jan Garben works across a range of media, including video and animation, print media, drawing, sculpture, and installation. The blurry interface between the real and the virtual, and the resulting hybrid world we inhabit; natural history, and entanglements between humans and our nonhuman cohabitants are recurring themes. Completing a BVA at Sydney College of the Arts, she holds a Diploma of Fine Art from Meadowbank TAFE, and belongs to the eco-arts collective, The Tree Veneration Society.
