About

The battle between keeping identity and its destruction is tumultuous. Sorry I Was Feeling Selfish displays the artists struggle to retain self after being raped. The painting displays a devastation as well as reconstruction after assault. The painting portrays a battle between hurt and self. It is violently pink, personable to the artists yet is overwhelmed by the words of her rapist. There are moments of innocence which contrast against violence. Moments of softness displace against the aggression of the spray paint. A cute aesthetic develops below the brutalist qualities of the graffiti. Sorry I Was Feeling Selfish is an honest portrayal of the aftermath of sexual assault and the emotional contradictions it creates.
