About

“The dandelion is an annoying weed. It is always unwelcome and unwanted, so people try to pull it out of their garden beds. But it never disappears, it always grows back.” – A Korean mother

Dandelion, something common, nothing special nor distinctive. It is a metaphor for myself, my family and experience of transnational displacement. Through Dandelion, I have visualised a metaphysical in-betweenness, seeking for an ultimate answer to “who am I?”

Bio

Hansul Park is a Korean-Australian artist, based in Sydney, Australia. Her artistic practice is drawn from a personal experience of transnational displacement, exploring ideas of diaspora, identity and hybridity within the contemporary context of globalisation. She works across discipline boundaries including photography, sculpture, moving image and installation in an ongoing exploration of hybrid identity.
